Frankincense oil – also known as olibanum – is thought to be one of the three gifts offered by the wise men to baby Jesus, so it is highly symbolic in Christianity. Although this essential oil won’t make you the happiest or richest person alive overnight, it does do miracles for your health. Olibanum is extracted from the bark of the Boswellia sacra and Boswellia carteri trees and is naturally clear, with only a bit of a green tinge.

How do I know it is truly Theraputic grade and safe to ingest and does not have SYNTHETCS in it ? I need for healing but don’t want anything with SYNTHETCS in it . How is your processed and where is is grown
Sharyn, you need to do your research: read labels, ask questions (of the companies you are considering using), check with your doctor, etc. I personally don’t use essential oils internally on a regular basis. I might, once in a blue moon, add a drop of peppermint oil to a batch of cookies, but that’s about the extent of my using oils internally.
I thought this was good for pain too….??
Yes, Maria, it’s good for inflammation, so if it takes care of the inflammation it should help with pain too.
I burned my hand while making tortillas last night and the nearest bottle of Young Living Essential Oil was Frankincense, so I dabbed a bit on and the pain was gone with no scarring. Love it!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
I’ve been tested for adrenal fatigue. My cortisol is high at night, so I plan on using Frankincense at night. My cortisol levels during the day are too low. Can you recommend and oil to support and help increase low cortisol?
Let me do some research and I’ll come back with my findings in a couple days.
Kelly, I did a bit of research and I suggest you find a way to regulate your cortisol levels, rather than trying to decrease them at night and increase during the day. I forgot that I actually have a post on adrenal fatigue, and it might help you. Take a look: https://www.enjoynaturalhealth.com/adrenal-fatigue-symptoms-and-treatment/
hi i have asthma and copd, will this be good or ok with my lungs
Alan, frankincense oil should be good for asthma, but I am not familiar with nits effects on COPD. I woudl check with your doctor before using it, just to be on the safe side.
Is this good for RA and if so how should it be used?
Is this better to fight acne than tea tree oil? I always that TT was the go-to! Something new I learned today!
Tea tree oil is one of the best essential oils for acne. But frankincense is wonderful for skin, so I suggest you use them both 😉
Adriana, how do essential oils work? I’ve never tried it. I have Fibromyalgia.
Some oils help with inflammation, some with muscle pain, some will help you relax, etc. You might want to read this post to learn about oils that help with fibromyalgia: https://www.enjoynaturalhealth.com/essential-oils-for-fibromyalgia/
My husband had lymphoma. Can frankincense help?
It can’t hurt to try. I’ve seen some accounts of great results from people who tried it.
Is there any advantages to putting frankincense on your temples for Alzhiemers? Is there an oil which would be beneficial for diabetic neuropathy pain in my feet?
Hi bob, yes, frankincense supports brain function and could be helpful. Just make sure to dilute with a carrier oil and don’t get to close to your eyes.
Frank without a carrier oil gives my face 2nd degree burns. I use only Doterra and Young living EO. I get glycolic peels but my skin cannot handle straight pure EO. Horrible burns.
Jackie, I don’t recommend using any oil without a carrier oil. So, definitely dilute it first.
Hi. How do I use Frank. To regulate hormones? Just a couple drops in tea or use diluted on skin?
I don’t recommend ingesting. Dilute with your favorite carrier oil and apply to your wrists twice a day or more.
How do I use Frank for lumps in the breast
Patti, I would go have them checked by a professional if they are new to you: it’s better to be safe than sorry. And of course, you can use frankincense to try and get rid of them: just mix a few drops of Frank with your favorite carrier oil (I’d use 20 to 25 drops of frankincense to a 10 ml roller bottle filled with carrier oil) and gently massage your breasts and underarms with it. Hope that helps.
Is there a treatment for prostate cancer
Danny, frankincense should help. Make sure though that you talk to your doctor about it (I wouldn’t stop other treatments you might be on)
What would you recommend for pre menopause? I am 53 and I am having brain fog, mood swings, anxiety.
Try this blend: https://www.enjoynaturalhealth.com/pms-menopause-essential-oil-blend/
Does Farankinences help with decreasing fibroid. I’m 61 thank you Marcia
Marcia, I don’t know if it does, but it’s not harm in trying.
How is it used for RA internally or externally?
Andrea, I never suggest ingesting essential oils. Frankincense has natural anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to help rheumatoid arthritis by reducing inflammation, pain, and stiffness. Apply externally.
How is frankincense oil used for wrinkles, large pores? How long before seeing results?
Jude
I’d expect to stat seeing results after a few weeks of using daily.
But how do I put it on my face??? Just put the oil on???
Why do you recommend not ingesting? I Doterra and some of them say you can ingest. I put a drop in my coffee in the morning.
Sharon, becasue it’s dangerous to make a blank statement to ingest essential oils. Many people won’t do any further research and get hurt.
