Oranges are one of my favorite fruits: I LOVE peeling the orange and smelling the oil that’s released from the peel of a fresh orange! Orange essential oil comes from the outer peel of the sweet orange through a process called cold pressing. I’ve been on a mission to learn about the sweet orange essential oil benefits and I wanted to share then with you 😉

Sweet orange essential oil is great for the digestive system. It helps you digest fatty foods and facilitate  your gastrointestinal muscles to contract smoother, which reduces spasms and cramps. It also helps with irritable bowels, nausea, flatulence, vomiting, indigestion and constipation. And it eases distention and abdominal pain.

Here’s a quick recipe you can use when your tummy needs some help:

  • Pour 1 teaspoon of your favorite carrier oil in your hand

How Safe Is Orange Oil?

In most cases, orange oil is safe to use but as with all essential oils, you do need to use caution. Some people may have an allergic reaction if inhaled so be careful when diffusing oils around guests.

It may also cause skin inflammation and dermatitis if not diluted with carrier oil before using topically. You should also avoid sunlight after applying to your skin because it can cause phototoxicity.
