Did you know that you could use certain essential oils for bruises to help them heal faster? Bruises occur when you damage the tissue beneath the skin in some way. For example, if you bump into a chair, the impact could cause a hematoma or bruise to form. Certain health problems such as a vitamin deficiency can also cause bruising.
A hematoma occurs when the blood collects on the outside of the blood vessel due to the impact. The bruise is actually the discoloration of the broken blood vessels that appear just below the skin’s surface. Bruises can feel sore and tender, especially if you touch or bump the affected area. If you’re feeling discomfort or have cosmetic concerns, you can use one of the four essential oils below to help treat the bruise so it can heal faster.
4 Essential Oils for Bruises You Should Try
Cypress Essential Oil. 10 ml. 100% Pure, Undiluted, Therapeutic Grade.
Cypress essential oil has the ability to prevent the blood from pooling under the skin’s surface, which is what causes a bruise to appear.
When you bump into something or have an accident that may cause a hematoma, use cypress oil as quickly as possible and it may prevent the area from bruising.
Lavender oil may prevent a bruise from occurring or it might make it less noticeable by improving blood circulation within the body. Since it also has the ability to constrict blood vessels, it may help ease any minor pain you’re feeling in the area of the bruise. Lavender oil also has anti-inflammatory properties that have the ability to reduce swelling and inflammation that’s often present when you have a bruise.

When you have a bruise, using helichrysum essential oil on the affected area may help it heal faster by improving blood circulation. This oil has the ability to go through the body’s tissues to reach the circulatory system faster. Once there it begins to reduce swelling and starts healing the damaged blood vessels. It can also help ease the pain caused by the impact.
How To Use Essential Oils To Heal Bruises
If you have an accident in which you feel pain in the area, it starts swelling or the area turns a reddish or bluish color, bruising will most likely occur. Begin treating the affected area with an ice pack as soon as possible. Place a washcloth between your skin and the ice pack to avoid causing more damage. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes and remove. Apply the ice three or four times a day for the first day or two if needed.
To help heal bruises with essential oils, rub the oil or blend of oils onto the affected area as soon as possible. When using an ice pack, apply the oil after treating the area with the ice. Apply it every three or four hours throughout the first 24 to 48 hours until the bruise starts fading. Always mix your essential oil with carrier oil before applying to the skin.

Love this! My foot looks like this right now! I was in a bad car accident and broke my foot. I am using a trauma oil blend from CHRYS OILS – Arnica, Calendula, St John’s wort – with essential oils added: Helichrysum, rosemary, lavender, blue chamomile, pepperment, eucalyptus & camphor. It is bringing me much needed relief! Wish I could upload a picture for you, lol.
