How To Use Lavender Essential Oil For Burns

Lavender Essential Oil for Burns

Whether from the sun, or steam or hot liquids, burns are never fun: they destroy the skin’s layers and sometimes, when severe, burns need medical attention. Lavender essential oil is great for burns: it not only takes the sting out, but it also helps the healing process.

The first thing you need to do after getting a burn is to stop the burn (get away from the source) and remove jewelry and clothing that’s close to the burn. Then cool the skin off with cold water and apply some lavender oil to the burned area. Below are a few recipes you can use.

Lavender Essential Oil for Burns Recipes

  • 20-30 drops lavender oil
  • 30 ml water
  • spray bottle

Keep a bottle of this easy to make spray in your cupboards to have ready for any burn you might get while cooking. Shake well before using and spray liberally as soon as possible. You will be surprised to see how quickly the lavender will calm your burning.

Once you cool the burn off with the spray, make the essential oils blend below and apply it several times a day on the burned area.

Oil Blend  With Lavender For Burns

  • 25 drops of Lavender essential oil
  • 20 drops Frankincense essential oil
  • 5 drops Geranium essential oil
  • 10 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • 5 drops Helicrysum essential oil
  • 5 drops Melaleuca essential oil
  • 4 oz of Fractionated Coconut oil

Burned skin is delicate to the touch, so using a spray rather than a cream or lotion is often better 😉

I burned myslef once with hot tea (poured it all on my lap), and calmed my skin with coconut oil mixed with lavender oil. It was unbelievable how fast it worked to relieve the pain, and I ended up with absolutely no scars. My burn was gone on a couple of days.
